The story of how it all began... ____________________________________________________________

“On hunting for fallow deer one night the desire for some good
Kiwi kai (food) inspired me to design the UFO, it meant I could hunt while the meal cooked without causing a fire!

And then came the realisation of the versatility my idea could have.

Since producing it; marae’s, sports clubs, families and boaties alike have enjoyed its fabulous flavours.

I’m stoked to be able to bring this to the NZ culture, so everyone can enjoy it.”

Take a Kid Hunting and Fishing! 2010

Dear UFO,
"I'm the guy who approached you and Wayne at the seeka show to support our take a kid hunting and fishing competition in Norsewood. I was blown away with the generosity of people such as yourselves who were keen to help us.
We had a great weekend with 150 entries. A huge thankyou for your team and their wonderful sponsorship."

All they own - lost in blaze

"The UFO team met with Robert and Saffron Weir and donated a UFO universal food oven to the family. We hope they are enjoying their cooking and that things have picked up for them this year. Merry Christmas to you all!"

"I took the UFO to my family Christmas gathering to cater for Christmas dinner. The bottom basket we filled to the top with meat (2 pork roasts and 2 large chickens) the top basket was filled to the top with vegetables. In exactly 3 hours the meal was cooked perfectly. We fed 17 people, who all agreed the meal was beautiful, and had quite a lot of food left over for later. In the past I have tried a couple of other hangi cookers, similar to yours, but they did not seem to do the job properly. I will say - the UFO cooker is the real deal."

"Hubby's found a new love! Ha ha ha. Thankyou so much, and guess what? He's already named it...Ka mau te wehi!"

"Having been a devotee of the 'family xmas hangi' for more than 20 years, with the reduced number of mouths to feed (only 20 ), this year we decided to try something easier.
The UFO saved hours of preparation; lighting up the gas cooker and putting the food in (as opposed to firewood, irons, hours of tending the fire, digging the pit, shifting the irons, laying in the food, covering the whole lot, then the whole uncovering bit) was a bit like sacrilage ( how can something this easy taste as good as something that requires enormous preparation? ).
The end result was well worth the wait; taste was fabulous and couldn't tell the difference between the ufo and the real thing. The other huge advantage is that the food can be kept hot for 'seconds'. - Mike
